opening ceremony of "Sindhi Language Awakening Campaign”

opening ceremony of "Sindhi Language Awakening Campaign”
Hyderabad September 27: 2022
Scholars, writers, language and linguists of Sindh and the general public have said that the main reasons for the decline of any language are non-serious attitude towards the language and continuous neglect of that language, while for the growth of Sindhi language. It is necessary to give the status of Sindhi language as a national language, make it the official language and teach Sindhi language in public and non-government schools. He expressed these views while addressing the opening ceremony of "Sindhi Language Awakening Campaign" organized by the Sindhi Language Authority in Mumtaz Mirza Hall, Hyderabad. Addressing the event, Mehtab Akbar Rashidi said that in order to increase the social usage of Sindhi language, we have to change our attitudes in order to raise the passion of Sindhi language among the people and we have to stop the deterioration of our language under the pretext of modernity. Let our Sindhi language, God forbid, be limited to books only and become rare and unpublished. He said that the growth of any language starts from home, therefore, Sindhis living in Sindh and abroad should encourage their children to speak Sindhi words instead of teaching words of other languages. He gave an example and told that even if the word "aunt" exists in our Sindhi language, most of the children of Sindhis call it Chala. He said that we have no contradiction with any other language including Urdu, but because our mother tongue is Sindhi, which is protected All the Sindhis should come forward and play a beneficial role for giving and its growth, which is also necessary for our existence. Addressing the event as a special guest, Dr. Jafar Ahmad, a great scholar of Urdu and Karachi University, said that no matter what the mother tongue is. It is very helpful in understanding the art. He said that Urdu language has got the status of national language in our state, but still in our government institutions, Lakpapa is conducted in English. He said that after 75 years have passed. We still have the influence of the English language. Known for its culture and history
Speaking on the occasion, Taj Joyo said that the Sindhi Language Act was passed in 1972, but it is not known for what reasons, unfortunately, it could not be implemented. He demanded that Sindhi language should be given the status of national language and reading and writing should be done in Sindhi in all government institutions and private institutions, especially the Sindhi Literary Board and Sindh University should conduct their business in Sindhi. During the period of unity, the names of roads, villages and institutions were written in Sindhi along with other languages in correct spellings, but unfortunately this approach has ended, which seems to have led to the disappearance of the Sindhi language. They did not take efforts to protect the language and civilization, the existence of these nations ended and the language they used to speak was lost. It should be declared mandatory. He appealed to the management of the authorized body of Sindhi language to write a letter to the private institutions including the National Highway Authority to oblige them to display Sindhi language along with other languages on their products and roads. He said that the private sector should be forced to write in Sindhi along with other languages on their products. He gave an example and said that in the United Arab Emirates, although 90% are non-local people and there are only 10% natives, but there is Arabic written on everything. He said that we are moving away from the Sindhi language consciously or unconsciously, which will bring a lot of threats and challenges to our language in the future. Therefore, it is necessary that from the plaques on the doors of our houses, all our activities should be in Sindhi. He demanded that the previous logo of the Sindhi Literary Board should be restored, which was the logo of Mohanji Dari, which is the foundation of the masterpiece civilization of Sindhis and we are known all over the world because of the civilization of Sindhi Mohanji Dari.
Before presenting the welcome, Chairman of Sindhi Language Empowerment, Dr. Ishaq Samiji shed light on the objectives of the event and said that the purpose of running "Sindhi Language Awakening Campaign" is to highlight the importance of Sindhi language to the heirs of the language, not ours. The new generation will consider Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai as a poet just like Khushal Khan Khattak. He said that such events will be celebrated throughout Sindh, which will last until February 21, 2023, with the aim of introducing the new generation to the survival and existence of its language. It is found in the mound, whose script still needs to be read. He said that currently there are 5 crore people speaking Sindhi language in the world and Sindhi language is at number 106 among the more than 7000 spoken languages of the world. He said that many of the world's more than 7,000 great languages have died, for example, Sanskrit language, which was once a master language, out of which almost 7,000 languages, came out from there and got a new name and a new existence. They took shape, but the Sanskrit was lost and now it is like that.
For example, the Sanskrit language, which was once a master language, out of which about 7 thousand languages, came out from there and adopted a new name and form, but Sanskrit was lost and now, like Sanskrit, it has completely disappeared. To highlight its importance, it was decided in 1969 that one day in the year will be celebrated to commemorate Sanskrit. He gave another example and told that many words in English language are from Latin language but unfortunately now Latin language is also left as a legacy in Pakistan currently there are 7 and a half percent of people who speak Urdu. He said that our aim is not to hate any language but we want to save all the original languages of Pakistan. Jami Chandio, Rafia Mallah and others also addressed the event. On this occasion, Ms. Mehtab Akbar Rashidi inaugurated the Sindhi language app on Google. All the students of Sindhi department participated.
